Carpy's Bobbed Rear Fender
« on: April 22, 2015, 09:25:30 PM »
Has anyone used this?  it said "Fits any 69-78 CB750".  the flat piece looks like it will mount up just fine after I drill some holes but the side mounts do not line up at all.  Am I missing something?

Here you can see the gap on the top if I line up what looks like the side mounts

Here is if I line up the top, impossible to use the side mounts.

Here is a look from underneath.  I marked the bolt hole.  This is as far back as I can push the fender and still be able to mount the top holes

That looks like its made to suit 69-76 K frames, the 77-78 K and all F models have a 2 inch longer frame at the rear.
750 K2 1000cc
750 F1 970cc
750 Bitsa 900cc
If You can't fix it with a hammer, You've got an electrical problem.

I wrestled with the same problem a while ago. In the end I used an old K fender on my F, and bobbed it at the front. Yes I lost the rolled edge, but fitting the tail light hid most of that and also added rigidity. It's on the second page of my build thread.

Incidentally, the fender I used was from a much earlier K than my F, and whilst the side mount holes didn't line up there was much more area on the sides to re-drill than the one in your pic. It looks like the Carpy one is made to fit, but does not replicate the dimensions of the original.
