Main fuse blows when I turn the headlights on
« on: May 16, 2015, 06:49:26 AM »
Hello all, I'm new to the forum and currently restoring a '75 CB750k and I'm having a problem with the main fuse blowing when I turn on the headlights. I didnt have that problem until I went to a differant type handle bar and pulled the wires out of the original bars. I feel that I have all wires hooked up correctly and have continuity on on all wires except a black wire coming from the right side. Any thoughts or advice would be really helpful and appreciated.  Thanks Tom

Sounds like you have a short somewhere. When I switched to clip on bars I had the same thing happen. Bike would die (because of a blown main fuse) when turning the bar to the right. Finally found a tiny spot in a wire that had been pinched and every time I turned far enough to the right a bit of bare wire would hit the frame and pop that fuse. Look very carefully.

Also check your bar switches. I nipped a wire installing mine.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.
