Pricey is an understatement, but it is sooo pretty.....  Shiney..... must resist.....

Ok I am past it, I didn't pay that much for the bike I have been riding all summer, including a parts bike.

Ours are steel. They look different polished.
Look good, though, imo.

I love aluminium tanks.  Good ones cost $1000 to $1300. Yeas, it's a lot of money. When you see one on your bike, it's worth it.  Crown jewel.  Wowza.  Am I nuts?

You bet.

I may have over reacted to the price, but for bikes in the price range of mine, any $500 purchase has to be an absolute necessity.

I saw a guy that had a stock 550F tank chromed. I wanted to ask him how he did it, but he was a jackass, and couldn't stop talking about how fast his bike was because he had "modified the carbs" so i had to walk away. It looked pretty good, but off course it has the stupid lid instead of a nice filler cap.

I have a 500 tank that's in decent shape except for the 13 layers of paint on it. I was going to strip it and polish it up to see how shiny I can get it.

it could have been just painted, House of colors has a 2 step chrome paint

when done right  will look exactly like chrome.

There was a guy with the moniker "Chrometank" here...  I've been wondering where he got to.

When i ground my tank down to bare metal i was tempted to polish and clear coat but it was almost blonding when i took it out in the sun, so i just went ahead with the paint

I dont think clear coat will stick to polished metal. no mechanical retention for the paint/clear.

Wish I'd kept it to sell today
