Hi hondamad,

It appears from your "Subject" line that you are working on 1976 Hondamatic.  Can you provide some additional information, as all that is posted are pictures of the cylinders and your crankcase?   Is this a restoration or do you have some other direction.  Do you have the rest of the bike or is this the start?

Its the start of a restoration of a 1976 honda automatic. The base bike is a basket case where

every part on the. Bike will have to be rebuilt

Taken the motor apart mostly surface rust. Problem is auto box parts , bought another trans but input shaft springs also gone. Found a source and waiting with bated breath to see if they work. These springs are in my opinion a design fault

Bill Benton has a couple of complete Hondamatic engines still on bikes in his stash if you start looking for parts.  I know that for certain because I had to move one of them out of the way to get my CB500 frame out when I bought that from him.

He goes by BillBentONRacing on these forums.  Great guy with a huge stash of Honda parts/bikes and an even larger supply of Honda knowledge.

Hondamatic oil pump.
No oil seals required. Does anyone know why there are marks on inner and outer rotors ?

If your question is about those stamped in Dots, they (the Dots) show that both rotors get assembled with the Dots facing You.  :)
Have you measured the clearance between Inner and Outer Rotor, as well as between Outer Rotor and Body?
(On the K bikes it's supposed to be less than 0.35mm).

It pump measures up like new , amazing  considering the sump had water in it when drained.

How do the Lobes of the Inner Rotors Look?????

The internals of the pump are spotless looks brand new , quite amazing considering the water i found in the oil.

Glad the Rotors are in Good Shape!!!!!
I haven't looked at the parts fiche for the "A", but you might want to check with SOHC4 member Elan.
He has all the Gaskets & seals for the K type Oil Pumps, including the Screens, to rebuild the K type pumps.
Excellent to do business with!!!!

Are you Sure that there is no Oil Seal between the Scavenge & Delivery Side of the Oil Pump????
Doesn't seem right to me, but then I know very little about the "A's".

There is no place for a seal and none fitted. Same goes for the O rings. Pump is completely different to my k4
