Miracke do-it-all primer. Paint guys lemme hear it
« on: July 24, 2015, 09:44:38 AM »
Ok, I have 3 CB750s & a 500 that are needing paint.

Is there a miracle do-it-all primer, sealer, surface out there ?     I've always just used a urethane primer in the past, buy my local paint supply is now gone.     All 3 tanks will be bare metal with some filler.  I have 2 sets of sidecovers that are stock, and 2 sets of frankenbike's repros (which are excellent) those are unfinished.

With a new baby in the house, I'm trying to keep costs reasonable.   Is there a product out there that would fit the bill ?  I'm leaning toward Eastwood's urethane primer:  http://www.eastwood.com/urethane-primer-and-activator-gal-kit.html     For that price, I don't think I could go wrong.

Think that would work or should I be looking into an epoxy primer as well since there is bare metal ?    I still have a tank I sprayed 9 years ago with urethane primer and it's holding up great, so that's why I'm still partial to the urethanes.

Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

I used this on my last paint job. http://usa.spraymax.com/index.php?id=841
Worked awesome. But my tank was smooth before priming so not a lot of build up needed.

My first tank I went through the tedious process of etching primer, then build/filler primer, etc. Took time and scratched easy down to bare metal.

I actually had good results with this ^^ process.
I used all Duplicolor products, and clear'd it with Spraymax 2k.
