Northern VA SOHC4s
« on: March 27, 2005, 06:23:39 AM »
Alright, let's start it then.  Anyone Northern VA/MD/DC looking to ride?  I'm sure there are a few of use around here.

I'm in Manassas myself, on a 77 CB550K.  You'll see me around town with my Captain America helmet.

Yep..Me. I'm in Falls Church. I have a 75 CB550F sitting in my buddies garage in Front Royal waiting for me to get her road worthy again. I'm hoping I'm going to find a place with a garage in June to make that happen.

BTW...

It's nice to see a SOHC forum. I like the style.

If you guys ever come across the Wilson Bridge, I'm in southern Maryland. My bike is a '70 750 K0 - see http://www.angelfire.com/falcon/comet2/. Looking forward to putting a few miles on her this summer.

Anyone near Harpers Ferry that, for a reasonable price, may be able to do a thorough tune-up on a 73 500F?  I would really like to tackle this myself, but with it being all new to me and with the second child on the way and building an addition on the house this summer, I'm very short on time.

Thanks,
Brian

I'm down to ride, I just worked on a guy's 74 750F last night in NE Washington, by Gallaudet.  Neat bike, welded on Suzuki pipes from a Boston to Guatemala ride.  I'm gonna get him rolling, and then bring him out 66 way some time.  Sounds like we've got some bikes around here.

Is anyone interested in doing a run down Skyline drive and then back up?  Maybe as a Labor Day weekend thing, it'd be a good way to lose a few hours.  At that altitude, maybe it won't be so damn hot.

Incidentally, I'm starting to appreciate this 550 more than ever coming up 28 to work in the morning.  I can flick it anywhere I want, and I really wake em up when I hit the throttle.  These nasty old pipes sure aren't muffling much.

I'm looking  to relo to the area...focusing on winchester, or the point of WV that impinges on va inbetween
leesburg and w'chester.

Scoping out opps in reston/herndon.  Figure either 7 to the greenway, or some such.

Anyway...any insights?  Real estate seems to be even more outrageous than here in the ny/philly
corridor.  EEEEEEK.

See bikes below..if I can get this together, will be happy to carve some corners with y'all (figure
I better start practicing my south of mason-dixon...:))

Hello  everyone in beautiful Northern Virginia.   I'm in Linden just east of Front Royal.  I'm putting this bike together and should be ready to start it up in a few months.  Carbs have been cleaned and kitted.  Engine hasn't been started in 4 years.  I'm riding a black '05 V-Star 1100 Custom to work in Sterling when the weather allows.  The 750 is going to be strictly for sunny day riding.  Any body good on initial start-ups?   :-\

Anyone know of a good reasonably priced Mechaninc in the NoVa/DC/MD area. I need to look one up just in case I can't get the charging system for my 72 CB750 working

Just wanted to let all you Northern VA SOHC4 riders know that there is a new rider up in Arlington on a 76 CB750K.  If anyone wants to ride one day let me know.  I'm up for it.  We still have 2-3 months of good weather this year!

Well, since I just relocated to Sarasota, I'll have a few more months of riding this year -- and next -- than I would have in NoVA...

Ya'll ride safe up there, ya hear?

I just moved to Centreville (from NYC, by way of a short stop off in Arlington) and just got my beast up on the road this month. Having been without a bike for around 8 years I cast caution and sense to the wind and ride at least a little every day it isn't raining or snowing. Heck, I did about 40 miles today in the 30ish degree weather treking out to Manassas Honda and then a blast on the twisty bits of the PW parkway all before noon. I am off Mondays and will ride every one as long as the white or wet stuff isn't coming down so if anyone wants a classic CB riding buddy LMK.
Once it gets a bit nicer I will be using my CB to commute to Falls Church/Merrifield and would love to meet some locals to go ride with (my only local friend with a bike has a buell that spends more time @ the HD shop then under him).
If weather permits we will be riding out to the Motorcycle show @ Dulles Expo Ctr December 29/30 and I would love to meet any sohc4 fans/members, especially those of the Cafe style bikes.

Any local get togethers coming soon?

Drew

welcome smokey

no leads on a local CB for ya, but...

ALL LOCAL CB GUYS OUGHT TO ROLL OUT LATER THIS MONTH TO THE DRAG RACING REUNION @ OLD DOMINION SPEEDWAY IN MANASSAS.

I rolled out there solo last year and had a great time, any gear head will love it. I will get def date and details later and post them.
Also for those willing to ride out a bit Mark Long puts on a killer show in Fredricksburg in Sept. Google "sixty nine and back" for details.

I, unfortunately, will not be able to attend.  I leave for the mountains that day.
