Changing the light bulbs in gauges. Advice?
« on: October 27, 2006, 05:25:31 PM »
Is there a trick to this? I couldn't find a thread about it. I'm I likely to break my gauges?

It seems weird to me to begin with that the lights in both my Tach and Speedo would be bad... but I cannot see any wiring issues.

And this is a bike I am just getting ready to sell. I received it like this.

Any help is appreciated.

The rubber bulb sockets are pressed into the gauges from the back.  You don't need to remove the gauge from the mounting bracket( the smller nuts).  Simply remove the gauge from the chrome weather protector by unscrewing the chrome acorn nuts (the ones on rubber sealed washers) at the back.  Pull the gauge out to expose the wiring for the bulbs.

Thanks! I'm gonna attempt this first thing tomorrow, after I can find a couple of bulbs.
