Do you think this is weldable? Can't see why not but more worried about having to strip the whole thing down.

Thought that might be the case, just above where the oil pan meets the lower (right hand edge). If that makes sense?

I agree it looks like a casting mark. I seem to recall others worried about the same thing? Ian, I would be more concerned with the condition of the drive chain, as yours appears to be somewhat rusty and crusty. Welcome to the fun.

Cheers guys, only had the bike a few months. Bought it as a project and only just got round to looking at it.
Thought it might be the source of the oil leak.

There are tons of good information on these forums about stuff like this. The search function will usually not give any good results when searching.

Use Google in another browser tab and search for what you need information about + Sohc forum. Then you'll find

+2 (or whatever number we're up to) Casting mark and nothing to fear. It IS a weird casting mark though.
