2 Questions from a New 77 CB750A owner
« on: September 04, 2015, 07:24:14 PM »
1st question - I recently purchase a CB750A with the intention of triking it for my wife.  I did a top end overhaul after discovering low compression in two cylinders.  During the reassembly I broke one of the 6mm cam bearing cap studs and cannot find anyone who carries new studs of the proper size.  Would it be OK to use a 6mm bolt of the proper length to replace the stud?

2nd question -  What is the purpose of the carburetor solenoid?  Is it necessary for proper operation or can it be removed without hurting performance/operation?  The bike ran when I bought it but all the hoses on the solenoid were disconnected.  I'm getting ready to clean the carburetors and am not sure what I need to do with the solenoid.  Thanks!

the solenoid opens the throttle plates slightly when you put the bike in gear so it does not stall
don't buy it build it
