Keyster D17 needles and needle jet problems? (750)
« on: October 08, 2015, 10:06:14 PM »
Hey guys I have another weird problem this time with carb parts. When i rebuilt my 750's carbs i found mismatched needles and worn needle jets, I ended up replacing the OEM honda parts with the Keyster parts that were in my carb kits. Now im having some odd idle problems with the idle speed constantly changing and constantly needing adjustment as the engine temps go from cold to hot. it wants to stall when cold and will spuratically surge to 2500-3000 when hot.  Also im finding things are on the lean side with the needle clips in the 4th groove from the top. the engine is a 836 with F2 cam and mild head and port work, stock airbox, 4-2-1 hindle exhaust. But i have a hard time believing the clips need moved to the 5th clip position?!?!?

Are the Keyster needles and needle jets OK replacement parts? I quickly measured the needles and they seemed very close to OEM "27201" needles.

Are the needles and needle jets like there pilot and main jets and are a little richer / leaner than there KEIHIN original counterparts?

Would you dump the keyster stuff and go OEM / KEIHIN parts ?

Keyster = crap.   Get some Keihin brass and I would wager your issue will go away.
