1971 CB 500K Seat Pan vs 500F Seat Pan
« on: October 21, 2015, 06:28:42 AM »
I have a seat pan question that im hoping someone could help me out with. Im trying to fit a new seat to my 1971 CB500, and at this time I do not want to do any frame modification. I have found this seat online that I like, and that I think will work:

http://www.motorcycleseatsdirect.com/1971-1974-honda-cb500-f-cb500f-cafe-racer-motorcycle-seat-with-seat-pan-4253/

However, it says that it is for the F model.

Does anyone know if the F and K seat pans are different or are they the same?

Thanks!

They made 2 different models of the 500 in 71?  I didn't know that.

The seat pan is the same on all '71 - '74 CB500Four/550Fours. The CB550F supersport and the later CB550 Four K use a different seat pan due to the longer gas tank, John

All CB500s were 'K' models so to speak. There weren't any 500 "F" models (with a 4-1 exhaust). They all had 4 silencers and therefore are all 'K'. Many abbreviate Four to F, hence the confusion.

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate! Going to order a new seat soon, and slap that sucker on.
