Honda Bond and where it goes — Hondaman's book
« on: November 23, 2015, 11:05:40 am »
I am just about to seal my cases back together.

This is a page from Hondaman's book. In the book the grey (hondabond) and grey (case mating surface) is fairly difficult to see what gets Hondabond and what doesn't.

I am thinkign it is just the ORANGE areas?

I included the other colors so you guys can chime in and easily say "make sure you seal the green section too!!!"

Or if Hondaman tells me exactly where it goes, I'd happily make a really nice version of this that clearly shows the idea sealant locations

This video shows it going everywhere

Thank you all very much for you insight

I used (1184) on all outside edges/mating surfaces, plus a SMALL amount on the mating surfaces on either side of the crank (use ARP thread sealant, or similar, on these external studs/nuts too)
Be sure the crank seal (on the advancer side) seats in its groove.
I also used a very thin application of (black) non hardening sealant on the sealing edge of the large drive shaft seal (as it had no seating groove)
Torqued in stages, over a day.

I'm by no means an expert but on my 550 (yes, not a 750) I used Loctite 518 (love it) and put it on all outside edges except where the clutch is. I also added it to the crank bearing towers. Zero leaks after about a year.
