Topic: Slip on muffler. What do you like/have?

What's everybody's preference for slip on mufflers? I see a lot of reverse megaphone options out there but would like to know what people here have used on their builds and/or what they prefer. I have a four into one header for my 750 and am looking for options/opinions.

Hey Yogi,  I have a 78 CB750K with a 4-1 "F" model header off a 78 Super sport. I am using a Cone Engineering Quiet Core (don't let the name fool you, thing is AWESOME) Stainless Steel Megaphone muffler. At idle is has a very nice deep low rumble and below 4k it sounds very nice, When you really get on it, this thing screams and has one of the best (if not, the best) sound I've heard on one of these bikes. I really like it. When I was searching for a muffler flybox (member here) recommended it and I couldn't be happier. Very good quality. Just make sure you measure the O.D. on your header so you get the closest size. I had to get/make a spacer to adapt mine to the F header.

I use the 18" Cone Engineering Quiet-er Core slip-on as well. 4-1 on a 750 K3.

YES!  Cone Engineering has expanded their offerings.   Do check them out.
Ideally you should have a mount tab welded to support the system. 
It's a lot of weight to be bouncing on the head studs.

Thank you guys for the quiet core recommendation. I like the look of the 12"  straight core as well, maybe a little better. I'm off to youtube for some sound clips.

The mac megaphone is quieter but imho sounds like crap. I modified the baffle by cutting the caps off and made my own baffle. Then wrapped it with stainless pots scrubbers. Sounds much better but is louder.

The straight core is open enough to piss off your neighbors anytime you blip the throttle.
The quiet core will get you out of the neighborhood, but has a great note, especially as revs increase.

Agreed Big time with Flybox. I've never run the open one on my bike. But I'm Extremely Confident you will like the Quiet-er Core version if that's the style you're after. The sound is amazing, you can hear it perfectly over the engine and wind noise while riding even with an open face helmet. As I stated too the build quality is excellent. I do have a sound clip of mine on my phone, let me know if you want to hear it and I can e-mail it to you or something.

Another vote for the 18" Quiet Core. Nice and quiet around the neighbourood if you need it to be, but will howl when you wind it out.

The videos don't really do it justice, Much better in person. I guess it depends on your opinion of loud. I have a Thunderheader on my Harley and that thing makes some noise!!! Just do your research as best as you can and i'm sure you'll make the right decision.

If you're worried about it go with the Open straight through one, Can't really go wrong either way in my opinion.

Don't know if it's a concern or technically matters... but the quiet core works well with stock airbox and jets, etc. If you have a good set up, it just swaps right out. Not sure if the open shorty requires any jet changes. A friend has the shorty on his 750 and I have the quiet. I like the quiet better. For both also take into account you'll need to weld a mounting tab and sort all that out. They sell the parts. They're stainless.
