Today I got the T vents in the carbs,I didn't use the ones pictured above , they seem to lose in there. I got some tygon tubing and put in a barb into it and added a nother piece of tubing . got the carbs back together not sure what I did but the choke isn't working like it should. I'll check it out tomorrow and try to figure what I did.

did you pull the carb rack apart, if you did, the choke linkage could be binding. loosen carbs on the backing plate, verify that the choke works as you tighten them back up.

I'll give that a try ,I just pulled one and 4 apart just enough to get the t vents in so I am hoping that's all I have to do

I got the carbs back together still don't have the chock working like it should .I think it maybe the spring. I just put them back on the bike and fired it up. It ran but not real good I think I have to rebuild the carbs well I plan on doing that anyway.Now That I know it will run I am going to do things that don't cost me money ,funds are a little low but there are plenty of things to do. going to get the tank and covers ready for painting and got a lot of chrome to clean up.

Today,I want ahead ahead and took the carbs apart to clean them . I had to change the choke spring any ways it's a good thing I got a extra bank of carbs there not hole but It had the spring in that I needed . so now there are soaking in some simple green. Tomorrow I will finish cleaning them and hoping I can put them back together right tomorrow.

Today, I got it running on all 4 cylinders. Still not running great I found a small tare in the accelerator pump not sure if it's that or not #4 doesn't get as hot as the others .I have a new one on order so I will worry about it later. Thinking of working on the front end next. I want to pull the forks off and clean them up.

you going to replace the seals? I seen Bike bandit had progressive springs for it now. When together only use a hand pump on the air assist.

Seal yes, springs I will stay with stock for now,That may change depending on funds.

you can preload the originals with spacers. I never did but built my own fronts mixing parts. I always found them to soft. But then Jerry rode my DD and didnt like the front.

Today I planed on doing a compression test . I got the gage from a co worker and needed a adapter.so yesterday at work I took a old spark plug and tig it to a air fitting. not being the brightest
crayon in the box made it about 3 inches to short. I couldn't get the quick connect on. That will have to wait until monday now. Check out the speedometer cable it's broken just like the tack cable. So now I'll need both. Now I got to get to that honeydo list got to keep the wife happy.

I finally got my carbs to work on all four cylinders. I need a adapter for a compression test. tried to make one having trouble getting it straight . It wants to hit the tapped covers It looks nice and strait but not straight enough. Been busy at work and haven't had time to do it. Now I'm going to get the tank and covers ready for paint.

Today I just did some grinding on the welds on my tank, at work I made myself a small fuel tank to hang off the handle bars wile working on the bike.

Today,was a good day I showed my wife what a good deal was on Hf motorcycle lift 69.00 she told me to go get it and I also got there dremal for 19 and change.
Got all the welds ground down on the tank ,air tested found a few more leaks so the tank will ride with me to work Monday,also found the candy fair blue paint at color rite.I will get that later.

It's been a while but haven't done much,welded up all the leaks instead of grinding them down I want ahead and put vinigar in the tank for two day,s. That open up a few more leaks.I am going to use caswel epoxy .Thinking of using the whole kit on one tank to make sure I get a good coat,Not sure if I am going to use it all at once or do two coats . need some opinion on that. I got all the decals off the side covers. Going try to make the pegs that are missing.Should anyone have nighthawk covers and want to give me the length of the pegs let me know please.

I finished taking her apart today .I just have to take off the triple tree. I didn't have a large enough wrench or socket.I think I will have to replace the bearings when you turn the tree it isn't real free .It doesn't feel smooth.didn't notices it when the wheel was on.

I haven't posted lately,I have been working on sandblasting parts. I take a few in to work at a time.Got a HF spot blaster that I am doing the frame with there is just surface rust and its doing a the job just my compressor doesn't have the cfm to blast more than a few min.at a time so its slow but should Finish it up today.
Going to use my quick shade to make a paint booth. going to wrap it with plastic and use a box fan to vent.plan on just useing appliance epoxy on the frame and other parts I'm painting black,that way if I have to touch up it will make it easier

I haven't been doing any work on the project lately, been working over time and then got behind on work around the house.going to get started this week on the bike. got all I need to coat the tank so that will be next and that will give it a nice long time to cure. then back on the frame almost ready to paint.

I started working on my project again. I got the tank coated ,I got a hf portable garage to use as a paint booth. To day I got some paint on some small parts all black with epoxy paint. Got the old tires off the rims going to clean them up and paint black the rear brake shoes look good,think I can get away with keeping them.plan on painting frame tomorrow.

I got the frame painted and now its time to get the motor cleaned up and painted. I put it up on my jack so I can move ot in and out of the shed easily.

I started to remove paint today ,I bought some spray paint and expoxy remover at lowes. It was cheep so I thought I would give it a try. It seems to work ok I really don't have anything to compare it to. After I get the big easy stuff off I'll go back and get in those little spaces.

I found on the car site Im on STRIP CLEAN works good. They used the brush on but I used the spray. I did us it on my 5.0 and worked good but it wasnt painted or greasy. You going back with black I hope.
