CB400f bolt list
« on: December 28, 2015, 01:44:10 PM »
Hi

I am looking at replacing all my bolts with stainless steel ones. Has some one been through the exercise of working out all the bolt sizes and lengths?

I have tried to find the rear shock acorn nuts.  I did find some 10mm nuts x 1.00mm but they are no good. I think I need 1.25mm

Any help appreciated

The shock nuts are still available from Honda for a few bucks each. There are resellers on EBay that sell partial and full SS bolt kits for the CB 400F.
You can also do a bolt count off a parts fiche if no one has the correct sizes and quantities. I did that a few months back and found a local wholesaler with a very good pricing that made it worth the extra work.
The EBay ones are a reasonable deal and saves all the sourcing and work if no one else has the count. I didn't save the paper that I used for the purchase so can't help you, although there are 3-4 main sizes and just a few 50mm and 60mm ones needed.

When you say, "All The Bolts" do you really mean, all? Including all case bolts, engine mounts, caliper, meter mounts, doohickey, and thing-a-ma-bob fasteners? Or, do you mean certain bolts for asthetics? You can replate many bolts and though not SS they will look new.

I guess I should have been more specific. I was planning to do it in two goes.  The chassis bolts and anything fitted to it. The second go was going to be the external engine bolts.

I am living in Australia and the bolt kits look great on eBay but the freight can put them over the top.

I have had some bolts replated e.g. Swing arm bolt just because I didn't think I could get on of them new

I ran across an engine bolt list today while looking for carb bolt sizes. I'll try and see if I can hunt it down and report back. Otherwise I have a stainless bolt set in the mail to me - I will take inventory of that when it arrives and post the sizes in the set.
