Some of you may remember this bike being for sale on more than one occasion on the forum.  A little back story, I bought this bike last year to fix up for my 2-up rider with my wife.  New suspension, vintage bags and fairing, new tires and rims, etc.  Just about the time I had it set up, we found out we were pregnant and my wife stopped riding for the foreseeable future.  I tried selling the bike complete at a loss, no takers.  I stripped off most of the new parts and tried selling it again at a loss, no takers.  It's been on C-list for a couple months now, I refuse to price it any lower and just keep bumping it.  A couple days before New Years a guy asked about it out of the blue via craigslist.  I haven't touched it in months, and so in preparation to show it to the craigslist guy I decided to get it off the battery tender and take it for a short spin.  Bike wouldn't start.  Crank, crank, crank, crank, pop, crank, crank, crank, click, click...  And then I notice a puddle of gas on the floor.  Carb #2 is pouring gas.  Next thing you know half the bike is apart in the garage and the build is on.  It's probably not a "keeper", but I can't sell it like it is and I have a bunch of good parts for it, so it'll be a quick winter build into a "mild custom".

The plan for the bike is something fairly mild.  Remove all the ugly parts, install cool parts that are kicking around the shop, try not to spend too much money.  Lower bars, clean up the controls, etc.

Tried experimenting with a bobbed stock rear fender too (with and without the grab bar):





Definitely think I prefer it "with" the grab bar. 

I picked up a set of stock K7/K8 pipes last year fairly cheap because someone had cut out the end plates.  I was going to fabricate some new ones, but it turns out the bike sounds killer without them.  I reinstalled the stock exhaust and hangers, as well as the Steel Dragon v-stacks.  I bumped up the carb needles and bored out the main jets to ~117, but it still seems a bit lean.  Without the end caps the stock exhaust is much more free-flowing than I'd expected.

That's about where the bike is so far.  Next up on the chopping block are the mini apes, the hideous front turn signals, the stock headlight, fork ears, and controls...

What did you do with the bags you took off of it?  Interested in selling them?

I had a K8 with stock exhaust, it was so quiet. That is much better!

I have 12 7/16 holes drilled in my endcaps on the mufflers. Mine stock pipes weren't in great condition to start with, but I just couldn't take the quit exhaust.
