I'm looking for LED Headlight recommendations for a CB750
« on: February 03, 2016, 07:31:26 am »
Hello,

I am a proud owner of a CB750A that I've restored from years of neglect and I'm very excited to be a part of this forum.  I am looking for some advise on replacing the original dim headlight with a new, low consumption LED light. I'm looking for a Make and Model and any advise.  I've keep the bike very original but personal safety in paramount.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.
May here first convert to an H4 lense and an appropriate bulb from the mediocre OEM sealed beam.
This is a huge improvement over stock.
There are many H4 LED's options, and a few here have done it successfully.
I'm sure they'll chime in soon.

Search for truck lite housings, tons of threads on them. Bolt on LED solution. I have one, it's awesome.

The TruckLite is a heavy unit (physically) but casts a very nice light. Theres also an H4 LED bulb thats a plug in for any H4 compatible housing. CognitoMoto sells the bulb for around $60.

Philip X-treme vision H4 bulb. Nothing left to desire, simple plug in, no further costs and no extra components that can break down.

Two options: 7" H4 reflector vs. enclosed LED assembly. If you want to have the ability to try different bulbs or just go a cheaper route get a 7" H4 reflector. Popular choices for H4 replacement reflectors are Hella, Bosch and Candlepower. With a H4 reflector you can easily change bulbs. Philips MotoVision H4 bulb is a good choice for H4 and Cyclops Adventure Sports sells a H4 compatible LED bulb. Cognito Moto is a popular vendor for the Cyclops LED bulb, but Cognito sells the off-road 3600 lumen version (no cut-off in beam pattern). Cyclops also has a 3800 lumen version that has cut-off and is better for on-road use. For enclosed LED assembly, many here use the Truck Lite unit. I've only read that it is heavy and has cracked some plastic headlight buckets. There are some other units out there too other than Truck Lite.

I have a Hella reflector and a Philips MotoVision H4 bulb. It is better than original sealed beam (which died), but I still feel like it could be better. I've ordered the Cyclops 3800 LED with cut-off to see how it compares. Was on the fence about getting the Truck Lite, but the weight was a concern and I already had the Hella reflector.
