One that will fit a K2, with badge mounts, no holes and preferably no dents, (although minor bodywork can be overcome). Petcock and actual badges would be nice, but not a deal breaker. Paint doesn't matter. I'd like to have it painted with a root beer flake and then, down the road when I get better at pinstriping, put some art on there.

Here are the bars I grabbed today. They may not be to everybody's taste, but I love them and think they'll do nicely. They were a little spendy, but I kept clicking between pics of the bike and the listing pics and just could not let them go:

Got two pairs of these from the same seller:

And the rotors were another buy:

Magpie on here lives near Victoria, he may know of a tank.. What is wrong with your tank ?
if you are raising the bike a bit smaller tank may make it less top heavy.. 400 F tank  fits with a bit of frame bashing.. minor.. give a whole different look to the bike.. and a few more can be made to work..
yes i can make the spacer soon, starting to get caught up..

Cool on the spacer, muchly appreciated.

The tank that's on there is from an early '80's Custom, (I think?) and it just doesn't fit right, not to mention the homemade hodgepodge of brassery that's been shoved on there in place of a petcock. Not sure what shape it's going to be in when I pull that stuff. Don't really care enough to find out. I like the lines of the tank, just not on this bike, it's gotta go. I've got an early '70's CB450(?) tank that I think I could use as a placeholder. Maybe down the line I'll switch out for a Manx or some kind of dished piece, but for now I'd really just like to get the proper tank, gives me the option of going back to something more stock-ish down the road.

There's also that stretch of highway on my way to Sicamous to consider, think it's 90 km without a service station, bigger tank would give me some peace of mind.

In other news, I think I might have a line on some 2-3" over fork uppers to go with the 14" Hagons, (or Ikons) I want to put on the rear.

450 tanks can work a bit of modding.
You go to Sicamous ? used to hang out nearby in Malakwa years ago , been thru there many many times..

Yeah, I have a vendor space at Summer Stomp, we hit a bunch of rallies in July. Awesome time  ;D

I'm negotiating with a guy for a tank right now. I like the idea of having the larger tank, probably still bring some extra fuel on longer trips. Bought a gas cap fuel gauge today, was going to install some "sight gauges" but this was a nice looking piece, and it'll save some cutting and welding. Not sure about venting, though.

Not sure what all we'll be bringing this year. I keep an eye out for whatever's going on that I'd be happy to use and have represent me, then cost and price it out, and give it a shot. Last year I pretty much took the shotgun approach, seeing what would work. Most of it worked about equally well, just not well enough to make hauling and organizing it all worthwhile. Got too tied up with onsite sales and lost the whole point.

Which was to get out, meet folks, and have some fun. Going to try to keep it to no more than a half dozen product lines this year, and pull shorter hours. Opening later and closing earlier. Avoid the bad late night drunks and the bitter morning folks that stay behind from the rides. Maybe get involved in some of the rides ourselves. Matter of fact one of the driving forces behind trying to get this CB done in the next few months is to take it on the Vintage Canyon Run. Not to mention being able to hop on it and make a quick run somewhere when getting the truck out gets too complicated. Going to try to head to events a day or two early, and spend a day or so after as well. Give us more of a chance to hang out and enjoy ourselves.

Pretty much just looking to become a familiar face, and build a reputation as a bull#$%*-free zone. So that as I start to put out some pinstriping, engraving and leather work, in addition to what I'm already doing, folks will have been seeing me for a couple of years and know that I'm not going to dick them around.

And I found a tank! Has a cap, badges and is reportedly dent-free. Basic black, so it won't look weird until I get paint sorted.

Wasn't free, but the price was okay compared to what I've been seeing.

Mark's book arrived today! Opened it up to a random page that just happened to be where he discusses suspension. Really like what I'm seeing so far, very clear and informative. Gratifying to know that my choice of front tire sizing was right in line with what he recommends. Might have to takes me a bubble bath with me rubber ducky tonight and catch up on some reading.  ;D

Anyone know of a good place to buy some filter foam for the breadbox? Preferably something that'll take some oiling. Between the new carb rubbers that I picked up, the ones for the pods on the bike, and the 3 of four that came with the air filter, I'm hopeful something will work.

I'm thinking 3m tape for the filter foam edges to hold it on, possibly multiple layers depending on density, thickness and results. Then, if it's not working out, duct tape sections between the layers to create more dead air volume and basically turn it into a shinier, tinier airbox. And if all else fails, I'll just scrounge an airbox from somewhere. Be nice to get it to work decently though, always wanted one of these.

uni filter foam, comes in a big enough sheet to make an airfilter.

Thank you Sir.

Just finalized the details for the seat I'm ordering. Was a little leery of using someone I didn't know, but several of the Do The Ton guys have used him and been happy with the results and he's providing the seat pan as well. Not to mention the specific design I asked for. We shall see...  ;D

On to my next round of joy, lights!

Gotta admit, I really hadn't been paying too much attention to this yet. Saw some cool stuff and was just going to pick it up. Unfortunately, the signals I wanted turned out to be one wire single filament. Not very conducive to running lights up front. Then I took a closer look at the tail light that I had in mind, apparently the lens on that thing was only 1 5/8", not gonna cut it. None of them were DOT, either. Which, from what I've been seeing in the papers lately, would definitely get me hassled by pretty much every bored cop from here to Calgary. Also, the two rectangular "headlights" I was going to use are only single wire marker lights.

Well crap.

I had forgotten the joys of trying to find halfway decent aftermarket DOT lighting. Can't say that the idea of replacing the busted up lights on my bike with OEM really thrills my socks off. Thinking this time around I'll just try to find something from another make or model. Anyone got any favorite street legal tail or signal lights from whatever rides got your attention through the years? I'll be running a bobbed rear fender.

I did pick up a stock headlight that I can probably just put an H4 into, but I'd really like to figure out the dual rectangular headlight in a street legal fashion. Failing that, I'll run the modified stocker and maybe a yellow foglight as well, once I translate the MVSA into English. Oh, and any wonderful ideas regarding reflectors for the side and rear will be met with middling to warm enthusiasm as well.

Well there we go then, SAE tail light sorted! From a 1968 -1970 BSA  A-65, if ebay is to be believed. Don't know if it's working, don't really care, it's awesome. Even got the gasket and plate mount. Plastics are intact as well. Any potential issues can be fixed.

I actually like this one better than the one I had in mind. Now to sort out some running/signal lights!

I know, right?!! Lmao

Bit of an old school sci fi freak. Took one look at them and the theme song to Flash Gordon started blasting in my head. Had to be done!

Not sure if I want to powdercoat it Satin Black, just powdercoat a Satin Clear over the existing look, polish it or chrome it. Nice to have choices.  ;D

Cool news! Just got an email on FB. I had forgotten, but this dude was auctioning off some NOS Hondaline case guards for a 79-81 CB750. I threw in a bid and it turns out I was the winner. Don't know if they'll fit, but if not I can always use them down the road.

In other news, the best deal I could dig up for a chain turned out to be a DID 120 link Oring. In gold! I was actually wanting nickel, but the price was right. Oh well, Mr. T it is! lmao

I'll be picking up sprockets as well, 18/48 for now, I'll probably pick up a 17 down the road after I decide how I like the gearing.

Would you know if those case guards will fit the '72 frame?

Well I'm committed now, just pulled the trigger on a 361mm set of Koni 7610-1413's, chrome bodies with black springs. Was going to go for the Hagon 2810's, but the ability to rebuild the Koni's just screamed at the cheapskate in me.

Hope it works out, if not, I should have no trouble flipping them.  ;D

Yup, used but rebuildable if needed, and the price was right. Kinda cool to have actual Koni's, not Ikons. They need some minor scratches buffed out around the mounts, but I can live with that.
