I want to make my own filter using green Uni-Filter universal foam that sells in a sheet of foam.I want to know what good quality, strong glue have you used to get a real good, tight bond between both pieces of foam? I'll be removing the element many times to wash out and re-oil so i want to get the best glue. Does the glue gun stuff work ?
I plan on cutting across and matching both flat ends of the foam together and gluing along that length to build one round filter 'tube' that can be slipped on a round screen that i'll be using and back off again for washing w/ solvent, cleaning & oiling.

Many of the foam filters use heat "welded" seams. Would be very hard to reproduce and still look good.

I would ask the manufacturer what they recommend.

Anything to glue sheets of foam together is just going to take away from the air flow. As mentioned you could heat weld the seams using a soldering iron or something similiar.

That super77 will soften and let go at fairly low temperature something like 110 F i was just looking into it for another project. Also i wouldn't trust it around fuel. You may think an air filter is safe from fuel but with spit back and evaporation it will be exposed to some fuel

I used pliobond cement and glued two filters together with oh... a 1/2" lap lap joint at each end. It has held up for 14 years.

Yes, I think Pliobond 20 would be the current product . I used to use Goodyear branded Pliobond, looks like the Ruscoe company is the mfr. and yes it is contact cement
