Cerakote chromex coatings for exhaust and motor
« on: March 14, 2016, 03:23:00 PM »
Has anyone ever used any of the Cerakote coatings before? I see they make a Chromex one which can be polished like aluminum as well as black and other satin colors.  I'm thinking about doing my exhaust in either chrome or a gunmetal. They also have a heat dissipating coating that I thought about for the engine but it has to be baked on at 500-600F. Not sure if that would cause problems baking the cylinders, head and valve cover.

Anyone have any experience with these? Price? Durability?

I've had my exhausts done with them and am quite please.

I use the thermal dissipative coating on heads and cylinders too. These are not as durable as powder coat, but I'd wager them against rattle can all day long.

Takes a lot of elbow grease to polish the cerakote chrome. The big outfits polish them in a vibratory tumbler and make em look like chrome, hard to get the same finish by hand with steel wool.

I paid $225 to have a 4:1 coated internally and externally.
