clutch cable oddities
« on: March 22, 2016, 11:57:34 AM »
In the move from clip ons to superbike bars, I removed my original (shortened) clutch cable and went with a replacement I bought years ago.
It's either comletely wrong or poorly made.
The end that is supposed to fit into the crank case, the nut with a shoulder on it, is too big, I measure 12mm diameter, the old one is 10mm.  I wonder about length as well.  It's a bit long for superbike bars but probably doable.  Just curious.  I will likely try to mill down the shoulder so I can use it and if I trash it I don't care. :P  Anyone know what stock length is supposed to be I find 52.5" for cable length.

I had this same issue with a Motion Pro clutch cable for my 750K5.
I ended up using an OEM cable.

I don't know what brand it was but it sucks.  I let the shoulder of the nut spin up the threaded shaft while holding it gently against a grinder wheel, over and over.  A few minutes later 12mm became 10mm. I hate #$#$ parts.
