Topic: Low Idle/Knock

First post!

I am set on buying an 83 Nighthawk, I've narrowed it down to 2 bikes. A $1000 project bike and a $2000 pretty bike

The $1000 drives great, but cosmetically not perfect. The $1000 difference in price has me leaning towards the cheaper one. But before i buy it, i wanted to get an opinion about this little intermittent knock sound i hear, only at low idle.

the knock can been heard at :04 and :07, and along with it is a little plume of exhaust. Seems more like an ignition/fuel thing rather than a piston/rod/timing chain problem. any advice/?

  Sounds more like some kind of a 'miss' and it does seem to be smoking a lot.Smokes looks blue. How many miles does it have on it ?  May want to test drive it to see if it clears up after a little run.
