Petcock Difference
« on: March 31, 2016, 02:07:11 AM »
Does anyone know the difference between
This: http://www.westernhonda.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=2451812&category=Motorcycles&make=Honda&year=1977&fveh=131103

And this:http://www.westernhonda.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=2451813&category=Motorcycles&make=Honda&year=1978&fveh=131104

Item 1 on both. Both are CB550K one is a 77 and the other a 78. I though everything was the same with the 77-78 year models? Looking to replace the petcock on my 78 550K and have read that the 77 will fit despite being original for 78. Any help appreciated!

If it helps, the size of the bung on the tank is M16x1.5 for the '78. These are hard to find. I'm using an aftermarket one. In hindsight, I wish I had drilled out the rivets on the stock one and replaced the rubber and used little screws to seal it back up.

If you're not going to do that, want to sell me your petcock for cheap? Assuming it's not completely trashed... :)
