Who Knew Having a Midlife Crisis Could Be So Fun!
« on: April 05, 2016, 02:47:01 PM »
At least that's what my wife has been calling this episode. I've been looking for a vintage bike for about six months now. Finally found what I was looking for, a 1975 CB550. Picked it up two weeks ago in Sullivan, IL (about 2 hours from StL). Took my dad out with me, stopped in Effingham, IL on the way back to eat at Firefly Grill, worth the drive if you ask me. Got two compliments on the bike in the parking lot of the restaurant, have a feeling that's going to happen a lot, it really is a beautiful bike. Looking forward to getting my hands dirty (hopefully not too soon though). Seems to be a wealth of information here on the forum, I know I'll be tapping into that.

Attended my first vintage bike night at Schlafly Bottleworks (http://kickitvintage.com) last night. Here's to the first of many.

Thanks for the warm welcome! First order of business was to replace some dead bulbs (and upgrade them to LED retrofit) on the speedo and instrument panel. Unfortunately, replacing the speedo bulb didn't do the trick. The replacement highbeam indicator bulb worked but the turn signal didn't (it was fairly corroded) Any quick tips before I tear the thing apart?
