Topic: Paint Reaction

Has anyone had any adverse paint reactions when they rattle canned their headlight bucket.  Sprayed black gloss Dupli-Color on an etched surface ( have had great success with these products) on a dry 65 degree day with no wind.  The finish went on great with no run, fish eyes or any other obvious defect.  I let the first coat flash for 10 min and sprayed another.  When dry, The finish was all cloudy yet smooth.  I deciced to sand it off and include it witht the parts I am sending to the painter and while I was sanding it off, I felt overwhelmingly ill!!!!  Fresh air cured it, but the plastic of the headlight bucket has an unusual smell to it as I sanded it...very strange.  Any one else have any problems such as these?

Wear a dust mask or respirator, the chemical solvents in paint can cause nausea and dizziness in some people - even when they are dry.

When sanding, did you wear a mask?  Were you sanding outdoors where you painted?  If not, you may have inhaled some paint.

Just an FYI, a dust mask only works for particulates (the dust from sanding), if the  solvent vapors are the problem you'll need a respirator with the appropriate filters.
