Cb350f seat replacement?
« on: May 29, 2016, 07:33:38 AM »
Hey guys,

Hope everyone is enjoying the season.
Acouple days ago I spotted a little tear in my seat and now it's getting alittle bigger and over time I'm sure it will get worse.

Is there anything I can do to stop this? Can I sew it or use a special tape?

I've always wanted to put a cafe like seat on my bike but not have to remove any parts of the frame or add a loop. Are there seats that I can buy like this that attach where the original seat attaches at?

Thanks!

Repro seat cover is an option and if not you would need to remove the seat cover from the pan and do a repair from below to secure the piece from tearing further. There are vinyl repair kits from Permatex that could be used to fill in the damaged area on top once it is repaired from underneath the cover.
Nothing I am aware that will stop the tearing if it is only repaired topside that can offer a permanent type of repair.
Once you remove the cover you may as well consider the replacement seat cover option, as you will already have the cover off.

I fixed a small tear in mine without removing the cover. I cut a piece of vinyl to fit exactly over just the bit I sit on and stuck it on with contact adhesive. The strap hides the rear edge while the other edges butt up to the piping, John

I'd like to just take the whole seat off and attatch a modern cafe seat but can this be done without mods?

Most of the cafe seats I've seen are custom made and require modding to mount the seat pan. But it looks like there are options for ones that bolt right up with supplied brackets.

Yeah I saw that one. It's a shame there aren't seats you can just swap in. My tear is getting bigger each day :(
