I think people get into trouble with it if they try to muscle the engine into rotating using this little 10mm head. Better to use the big head (on shoulders) first. imho
why would anyone try to turn the engine with that 10mm when there is a 17mm in the exact same spot? Not saying it doesn't happen but that is simply lazy. ALL metric tool kits have a 17mm. They deserve to live with that bolt busted off if they did that IMHO.
Take the advance unit off your bike and really see where the pressure is being applied.
If your motor spins freely, plugs in or out it matters not.....turn it by the big nut carefully and you will be fine.
There is no pressure, either on the 6mm bolt(550's), or for other models(750s) , the advancer shaft.

I think the problem, and what I was originally saying, is that even the big nut is deceptive. It's not a lot stronger because it's still only spinning the advancer and it's little locating pin. It's like tappet covers, they accept a larger wrench and that makes people think they can take more torque when they're actually fairly weak.

I obviously trust Fly saying if you go slow it'll be ok, but if you search the forums there are members stressing being careful and also quite a few where people snap the advancer mech. or the 6mm shaft.

I just want everyone to be happy :)

Why would anyone reach for a 17mm wrench where the nut - still quietly waiting in exactly the same spot - is actually 23mm. :D
My tip, put a 23mm socket on a T-handle. With a cold engine there's hardly a problem. When the engine is hot, you have to be carefull, but hey, there is the kickstarter right in front of you, dumbo.
