Great motorcycle trip

I know y'all have probably seen it but I just rented it
last night and we've been watching it for 2 days now.

"The Long Way Round" Eyan McGregor and Charley Boorman
did a trip round the world on a couple of BMW bikes. If you haven't seen it
Mongolia was an arse kicker :)

Here is a web site to it,

The wife and I have been watching it just now, too.  Some pretty cool riding and scenery, BUT...

we can't relate to the expense.  These guys have more support than a NASA mission.  An awful lot of toys and gear that cost a ton of money.  Oh, and did we mention the benefits of celebrity status and money when crossing borders, etc.?

Still, it is a good film so far; and there's no way to detract from what an audacious trip it is!   :o

I would disagree...anyone can do it if you really wanted to....all you need is a bike and the time. If you read some of the motorcycle travel stories you`ll se that any bike can be used for a bike trip - Ive seen Harleys, Yamahas, 70s Triumphs, Hondas, Enfields, BMWs ect etc...all make such trips. Dosent always have to be comfy or have guarenteed support...just need to go out and do it. Its not that hard...have bike, some luggage and make up a route, any route and go.....thats it. Time and bike (and some gas money  ;)).

cheers
Andy

I agree with Andy, it can and is done.  But real folks in real circumstances do it without frills and without lots of other folks doing tasks for them.

Still, it is an entertaining film and a hell of a ride.

Maybe when I make some big bucks, oh wait I'm a logger that ain't gonna happen.

The Road of Bones is my typical environment.
I found myself relating most to the Russian Truck Drivers :)
