Since I can't find a green replacement decal for my '75 CB550F speedometer (120 MPH), I am wondering if I can install the CB750 decal (140MPH) and then install the CB750 speedometer drive gear to recalibrate to match the new speedometer scale?  Will this work?  Are the speedometer drive gears physically interchangeable between the 750 and 550?

Then, planning ahead, if I intend to do a dual-disc install, how does this change things?  Will I use the ranglov drive for a 750?

Thanks!

I just left your town! Delivered some CRF70 plastics to a guy.

I don't know about the faces, but I'll dig through my stash and may have a usable 550 speedo.

decals are ok, but why not just buy a replacement faceplate  :-\

Yep, that's what I'm buying, it's the whole plate, and from the same guy.  He doesn't have any for a 550 any more, so I'm having to make do with one for a 750, and hoping I can swap the drive to match the 750 scaling.

That eBay seller has now relisted those CB550 face plates.

There's also an instrument set with center light panel that looks pretty good on eBay with a starting bid of only $24.99

IIRC, the drive gear for the 550 speedometer is the same as the one for the 750. The tach drive  (ratio?) is different between the two.
