Hello all!
So I finally made it over to this retired vintage Honda mechanics shop today and man-o-man... Talk about beautiful bikes. This guy had every model of 70's and 80's Honda Bikes all restored and in PERFECT condition. All for sale by the way, he is located in Waterford, Michigan (Metro-Detroit area) if any of you are looking to buy a vintage Honda. Most of his bikes are between 6k-12k from what I gathered from him today, let me know if you are interested in his contact information.
Anyway, I came across a 60's 305 Scrambler in his shop and the head lamp had the inset speedometer and it just looked really awesome. I asked him if he had any parts around the shop for my 500 and he had a spare scrambler headlamp minus the speedometer. He told me if I had come a month earlier he would have had that for me as well. He said the head lamp minus the speedo was 80 bucks and I think I'm going to buy that tomorrow.
Does anyone know of an after market speedo I could put in there? Im not sure that I want to actually use an aftermarket speedo but I want all my options on the table. I found a couple original speedometers for that head lamp on eBay ranging from $100-$130, the mileage on those things were all over 100k. Another question I have is would I be able to change the mileage on the speedo that I purchase? I would want it to show the actual mileage of the bike I'm installing it on, which is 27k miles.
