Well I didn't plan on this happening today...
« on: June 30, 2016, 10:10:34 PM »
...but I scored a 1982 CB900F. It's rough, needs some work and is missing some bits but she's straight and at $120 (delivered to my house 15 mins away!) and out of the CA DMV system, I certainly can't complain. :)

I think that's probably the score of the day. Good job. Keep us informed on how it goes.

I always liked the 750, 900 and 1100 style.

Congrats Rick.  Could be a nice bike if you decide t put the time and money into it.
What's the plan?

Thanks guys! Those deals don't come up much on CL out this way.  :)

First off, I think I'm going to sell my hard tail project to fund the 900F. I've lost interest in the bobber/chopper thing, especially after I rode my buddy's and kinda hated how it felt/handled. LOL it was terrible to me, especially coming from sport bikes. But that's just me and I still love the look of them and think they are super cool, but I don't want to build one anymore.

So the plan is just to get the 900F running and rideable, make it look a bit prettier, even if it's a rattle can job for now. It really won't need much. It's missing a few things: Alternator cover, clutch cover, clocks, both side covers, needs a front fender replaced and a seat cover. The engine/tranny is good and was serviced before it was parked, it turns smooth and runs through the gears fine but of course carbs need to be rebuilt as well. Sounds like a lot but it's really not. The only part I'm having trouble locating is the right side engine cover for the alternator, but I'll track one down eventually.   :)  Rick

Thanks Tom! I ended up joining the CB1100F net site and have got a lead on all the parts I need (from one person!), so far so good on that site, but we'll have to see how it shakes out. I'm very new there and I've got no experience on how the folks on the site are.

Also, I will never complain about CB750K carbs ever again. I'll be rebuilding the stockers, unless I come upon a set of CR's for a bargain. LOL, not likely. I know.  :) Rick.
