Topic: CB550 Points - anyone try these?

We all know that the Daichi points are crap and should be avoided like a plague.
I have bought parts from an ebay seller before that id Mac_Cycles
and they are selling a point set for the CB550 made by

They are made to Honda specs according to the seller.


I have a question into the seller about the points quality as compared to the Daichi and to see if there are problems setting timing with these like those from Daichi.
I also inquired if they sold TEC points.


They are a good ebay seller in my experience and are very honest in their answers and dealings.


Didn't know if anyone had tried these or if they were a good alternative to TEC points, which can be hard to find without paying a fortune.

I havent had a problem with daichi's points.  7kmi on a set.

It's their condensers that cause trouble.

I have daichi points plates that came with points and condensers for $15 each on two of my bikes. Nearly 1000 miles on one and over 3000 miles on the other with absolutely no problems what so ever.

Daichi points bounce on the cam lobes. Honda points track smoothly up and down those lobes.  HONDAMAN proved it and attributed the problem to the nature of the springs used that snap the points shut when the follower arrives at the low point in the advancer's cam.  It got super sloppy/ impossible to tune bouncy noise with my strobe timing light using daichi points. The honda points didn't do that. And I was able to confirm proper advance exactly.  And yes. The daichi condensers are crap

Buy used stock(TEC) points plate off ebay for $15, add a Hondaman ign unit, and fogeddaboudit!

BTW, the seller indicated they have been using this company's points since 2003 and there have been little to no complaints from the customers. The company is located in Taiwan. Better quality stuff generally comes out of Taiwan as opposed to mainland China from my experience.

The Japanese Daiichi points often are useable to time a bike, but often they are junk.  Glad you guys have had good luck with them.
