lower 750 engine case compatibility

Hey all in my last post about remote oil filter because of a wasted  threads for the oil filter/canister well I now am looking to replace the bottom case and  wonder if I just get another 1978 case if they are an automatic match or are there other differances thanx for any input  Craig

It's my understanding that the upper and lower cases are matched during the production process. The mating surfaces are machined to match that is. I don't believe upper and lowers are compatable from different engines without some serious work that I'm not sure most can perform.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

You will need the matched set. You can get away with swapping uppers and lowers (most of the time) on new engines but that's about it.

You might consider repairing and using one of these:

So you don't have to use the repaired threads any more.
