Has anyone used Hagon shocks? Would you recommend them?
My son is looking to replace the pogo sticks on his K7. The Hagons seem to offer a good deal. The bike is fairly standard and he uses it for weekend riding on good roads. He is a big guy and doesn't normally carry a pillion.

He doesn't have a lot of spare money and is looking to get good value at a good price. New Hagons are $300 a pair. Other makes are more. I am hoping that some of the English guys can offer me an opinion here.

Well the shocks are OK, but I would think by the time you add the shipping

I just got some in.....but my bike is currently all torn apart so I can't tell you how well they work. They do look nice and seem to be well built. Not cheap looking...imho anyway.

No shipping costs. They are postage free from the Australian distributor.

£121-41 the shocks are £101-50 over here so thats £20 shipping.

That is about what it would cost to get them posted out here from the UK. I will be dealing directly with an Australian company who have a set price of $299 (including GST), post free anywhere in Australia. There are a few other brands around - Ikons are $469 AUD. I was quoted $500 from a local shop for Konis. DSS has some aftermarket replicas for GBP 97.50 but I suspect they are manufactured to look like the originals rather than their performance. That is only marginally cheaper than the Hagons.

I have hagons on my 78 cb759F supersport. I think they are better than stock - no problems at high speeds. They came on the bike so I have no dea what they cost. I have a set of redwing hammerheads that I got for $169 with some fairly stiff springs. I don't have any high speed expirence with them but they do a good job the one time I had them on (I took them off to go to a less stiff spring). I have a set of progressive suspension shocks on my DOHC and like them as much as the hagon shocks and they cost a lot less (I paid $180 for mine - dennis kirk lists them as $173 plus shipping). If you are going to go the new shock route I really liked the DOHC shocks that I ran on one of my supersports and you might be better off going to a 14" progressive shock (the stock size for a DOHC cb750F) espically if your son is a big guy.

Hagon took over the manufacture of Girling shocks and they are very good value plus work exceptionally well the only visible difference to Girlings is that the pre-load adjusting cam is shielded instead of, open but i have one warning:-

DO NOT hold the adjusting "C" spanner onto the shock spring pre-load adjuster with your hand whilst adjusting the preload!!!!!!

There are 3 spring pre-load settings and the hagons will jump direct from the hardest spring setting, over the cam, to the lowest spring setting TRAPPING A PIECE OF YOUR HAND IF ITS THERE!!!!

YES, i have a "fish eye" scar to prove it!! Luckilly the top and bottom mountings wernt to tight and when i got to the vice , with shocker hanging from hand, my mate was stong enough to pull down the spring so i could get the top collets out and dissasemble the shocker to get my hand out

I have Hagons on my 500 - they are a good compromise between cost (Koni/Icon) and the cheap crap that is available on eBay.

When the monoshock on my VFR800 died this year (35k miles) I had no worries about fitting a Hagon replacement.

In both cases, it's like having a new bike!

I'm running MDI's. You can pick them up for $100 a pair. They are kind of stiff, but for the normal riding i do they work 100X better than the stock set.

Steve your comment about them being a good compromise between cost and value is exactly the reason to go for them.
