Cast stock shifter lever...  Anybody welded to one of those before ?
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

Seen it done once or twice.  Mostly in the offroad scene.

Not cast, that is why they get bent.

Sweet - thought they were cast.    I'm making some rearsets but want to use all the old Honda stuff instead of the newer billet sets.

kick shafts is hardent,,and can not be veldet..so it holds.

.gear shifter shafts, is soft steel..so you can veld a used splined end on..i have done it tvice..and it holds up nice..i had used some Yamaha fs1 parts..they all  looks to be universel in the splined end.. have use both Honda china kopi and Yamaha pedals on my cb 550/cb 500 twin

i had drilled a senter hole in the one part..and turnde a tap.on the caunter part,,to align them perfekt up..if it are the arm  or pedal or link arm..its also soft steel..so easy to veld and machine to fit

klick on Photo to get it bigger

It should burn through the chrome, but you could grind it away if your so inclined.
I have a heel-toe shifter that was obviously not ground clean. Just minor rust showing in the weld. got to clean and power it eventually.
