Dunno about imperical, but that exhaust is probably. Regular steel, that has been plated.

If the pipes were literally falling apart, they obviously were not made from stainless steel. ;)

  So after I did some research into what welding rods to use. I tried using a (Hobart) 312 plus Super Versa Weld Steel on the left pipe. They seem to be working out well.
  Because I ran out of them to fuse one side. I had to get more, I stumbled across some Forney 312-16 S.S. Alloy "Easy All Steel"rods at Family Farm
