Topic: Anyone fitted Tarozzipaolo engine-guards to CB750?

I bought a pair of engine-guards from David Silver and when they arrived they were a pair of crashbars made by Tarozzipaolo in Italy. Anyone ever fitted them? There were no instructions. You get a l-o-n-g threaded screw and a couple of other bits.

They are similar to a set of guards I bought last year. The longer bolts are used in place of the original engine mount bolts. What other "bits" are you asking about? DrMark

Mine look like those, but without the spiderwebs in the middle, there. The main thing I see that you will face with those: points access might be tough! Maybe consider installing an electronic ignition?

They're very nice and allow easy access to the ignition, but tend to fold into the engine cases if you drop your bike, so you may still crack your cases, particularly on the points side.

I always thought that if they had another tube with a bolt going through that tied them both together they'd be a lot stronger, but it's probably a case of aesthetics winning over practicality.

They're better in one way than the larger crash bars though (like the cops and a lot of tourers used) in that they won't bend your frame in a big "get off". Cheers, Terry.

I had a set of guards like that but not as sturdy looking. When I had my accident (65mph laydown on highway) that bar bent back and destroyed my points cover but it did not crack the cases.Now I put them on every cb I own, but I use the cheap D style ones without all that extra stuff in the middle. Maybe that is what kept me from cracking the cases.

I've been down on mine, 3 times on the points side and twice on the left side. The bars show the scratches, but the cases don't have any! One of them (right side) cracked the "ear" where the bolt holds it on in the first crash, so I bolted it tight and welded it in that bent profile, since it was a flat, straight mount plate and the Honda frame is not straight right there. It never cracked again.

I like them, but I have short feet: mine won't allow you to directly hit the rear brake with size 9 or longer foot unless you slide your foot back a little on the peg - if you have size 8 feet and wear square-toed boots (like me), then it just fits.
