How the identify F2 camshaft from others?
« on: August 03, 2016, 12:21:41 AM »
I recently bought a half junkyard F2 parts, at least 1 full bike, and many additional parts. The engine was in pieces, it all fits well, it is just that I'm worried about the camshaft. The engine did have a spare cil block and head, and camshaft. As all parts were loose, they may have been gathered from all kind of Honda's CBs.

What would be best way to measure and reassure it is F2? One has M7 thead to mount the sprocket, and bolts are missing. The other has M6, but one of both holes is clearly drilling out of the center off factory, damaged bolts present. And how to recognize the camshaft sprocket to be the F2 model, or were all sprockets identical (probably not).

You help is appreciated!

My collection:
1972 Honda CB750K2
1976 Honda CB750F1
1977 Honda CB750F1 (own it since 1987)
1978 Honda CB750F2
Currently eyeballing a frame 1971 K1 ...

I think the sprocket changed from solid to having holes in '76 for less weight. I have a spare cam for the '77 '78 f's if you need one. It's stamped R1 for the grind near the sprocket.
