Topic: 550 Rocker swap, OK or not recommended?

I have a '77 CB550 loaded rocker cover to replace my worn '75 cover.  My plan was to tear-down and clean the new cover, inspect all 16 of the rockers (8 from my motor, and 8 from the new cover) and load the best 8 into the new cover.  But I'm asking if this is a good idea, to swap used rockers on old shafts, after they've been a mated pair for the last 40 years?  I don't know the mileage on the replacement parts, but two of the rockers were fairly tightly gummed onto the shafts requiring an overnight Kano Kroil soak to break free and rock freely. 
So what od you think, should I keep the '77 rockers on their shafts, or is it OK to swap them around?

IIWM I would either replace all or none of the rockers so they will be mated with either the camshaft they are used to or the rocker shafts they are used to.

in a perfekt World  svap all to get it perfekt....
but in the real World..if there is any small diff..they vill be grindet togethe rin minuts..and one valve adj vil take care of it.
..its the lifters and the adjuster tap..vho goes on the valve..vho is critic for Wear..i vill go for the best looking parts..and just slam it together(if the parts is in spec)...its still a old engine both the donor and the fixed engine.(.it can only be almost as new)..so dont vaste a lot ekstra Money..it vill Work aut fine even mix the parts...iu have mixed parts in all my engines..and have no problems

id there is some vear on the cam
..grind  the surfase so the cam not have a grove..i have seen some have a small stripe at the autside of the cam areia..it need to be grindet dovn so the cam surface is good at the vhole areia the lifter can move on..

Go for it.
Use a liberal amount of assembly lube on the lobes and rocker faces.

I ended up only swapping out one rocker, the other 7 were good in the new cover.  I put in a better 550 cam and installed the '77 rocker cover (used plenty assembly lube), set the lash, and all is good.  It's so much quieter, I guess I didn't realize how noisy my old ones were.  After a few trips I'll check the gap again just to see if anything has moved.
