Broken attachment leading into air filter box.
« on: August 24, 2016, 03:33:01 PM »
Hi,

New to this forum and I have a quick query:
My bike is a 1993 CB750. I seem to have a break where a hose attaches to the air filter box, just in front of the lid of the filter. I don't know what this does and what the implications might be. The bike is running fine, other than a bit smokey at the tailpipe at idle sometimes.
I have attached a couple of photos...

Thx!

Welcome, but this forum is mostly dedicated the earlier SOHC bikes. I'll move this to the correct forum and hopefully you'll get an answer and hang out with us for a while.

I would try to glue it, it should work.  If that fails, go mechanical - flange and nipple if there is enough space for it.

The function is most likely PCV or emission gimmick, not really critical for the function.

Or just get a different air box on fleabay  ;D

Agreed...take the filter off first so you can get a good look at it and work on it. Clean it VERY good of grease, oil, etc. Then use some JB Weld on it. Let it set up for at least 24 hours. You will want that air box to set up with the gravity being your friend so tip it upside down while it cures.

Great! Thanks for the info and tips. I think I will start with a cleaning and glue. Always good to try the cheapest option first...  ;)
