Verify this lace pattern?
« on: September 06, 2016, 04:56:25 PM »
Just re-laced my front wheel. I think I've got everything right. Followed tutorial in FAQ, still had to re-do it a handful of time. But everything is in, no spokes are drastically sticking out of the rim. It is following the cross 3 pattern.

Anyone want to tell me if I can start truing this bastard or if I need to start drinking whiskey and hitting a 2x4 with a wrench to get my frustration out?

Thanks guys and girls

I can provide more pictures if this doesn't make things visible enough. Just took a look at it and it's kind of hard to decipher which are inner/outers of which side of the rim.

Looks good.  It's a cross 4 pattern for a 40 spoke rim.  Be sure your thread lengths exposed on the inside of the rim are the same and NO spoke ends protrude beyond the outer nipple face.  I just got done lacing up my rims with the cross 4, 40 spoke.  Took a couple of tried for the 1st rim.  (Didn't make the same mistake on the 2nd rim :)  Tighten each 1/4 turn until the spokes are getting tension. For truing I found doing the radial run-out first then doing the lateral run-out, then check radial and if adjustment is needed go and do the lateral again.  After mounting tire check run-out again then balance.

I found it was not as bad to lace and true the wheel than I had thought it would be.  Just have patience!
