Topic: Differences in CB550 engines

If I have an engine for a 1975 CB550F can I take parts from any CB550 engine between 1974 and 1978?  I know the intakes are different but are there any other differences?

Kickstart lever is a different shape to accomodate the frame and footpeg setup.

I will take a look at the parts list but what I am looking to swap is the head and cylinders.

I thought the clutches were all the same, it was the 500 that has a different setup.

There is no difference in the head and cylinders. The valve cover/rocker assembly was modified starting in '77, but they are interchangeable.

Thanks guys.  I checked all the manuals on that link and they all share the same part numbers for the head and cylinders.

Then it's good we have collected and posted all those parts lists. Tells you a lot more than those fiches that show up every time here without any further comment.
