engine only running on full choke (1979 cb650)
« on: September 19, 2016, 04:45:58 PM »
I fixed my leaky carb issue and was finally able to get the bike running for longer than a few seconds. The bike will run on full choke but if i don't keep feathering the throttle the bike will shut off. As soon as i push the choke back in the bike dies. Any ideas? what should i start trouble shooting? I should also add that I no longer have the stock pipes on but still have the stock air box set up. The pipes are shorty reverse cones and compared to the factory ones there pretty much straight pipes. Could this be a back pressure issue, or lack there of? All input and info is welcomed and appreciated.

Running way too lean, made worse by your pipes.

Yes, way too lean probably from your carb that was not aggressively cleaned the first time.   There's also an off chance that you have one or more manifold vacuum leaks that are leaning out your mixture.

My guess is dirty carb.
