1969 CT90 K1
« on: October 25, 2016, 05:52:55 AM »
Here is another little project I have been working on in the shop.
1969 CT90 K1

I left all the original patina and just buffed out the paint.  All new bearings, gaskets, rebuilt breaks and cables.  140 clone engine with Mikuni carb and 12v conversion, this thing scoots along much better than the tired stock 90 engine.

Super cool.  I rebuilt one of those for a customer a year or two ago, customer wanted to bring his father-in-law's 90 back and then give it to him as a gift. It was a fun job that I left totally stock.  I especially enjoyed riding it a bit whe all was finished

Got two of those with their 90 cc motors. These engines with the eight speed transmission will nearly climb the garage door. I've been on some very steep California terrain on one at maybe one mph and 6000 rpm climbing where no other bike could ever do that.

And the one mph was top speed, right?  The motor tweakin put in must make for one funner bike to ride.

Yea, the 140 will be great for the street but the 90 and 110 cc bikes with the dual-range, eight speed transmissions will beat them in a hill climb every time.

I agree the dual range transmission will be missed but not that much by me.   I never enjoyed climbing hills at 1mph anyways..  ha ha

I used my dad's red 71' CT90 when he wasn't around, I was in my early teens. The easiest bike to hotwire;all I did was remove the silver cover over the center frame bar and connect the ignition wires together,no sweat.I used to beat the neighbor kid on his nice CT70H w/ it but then his father got him a CL100 and he used to slowly cruise by me while I was tucked,flat-out and doing 59mph according to the speedo.. I never did use that dual range gear box except once to try it for grins, way too slow for a 14 yr. old  :D Those 90's are tough to destroy but my little brothers 'killed' the 'girls bike' after my father let them ride it in the dirt 20 yrs. later.I rebuilt it for him before I got my RD350 under me when i was 17. Tweakin,is that an auto clutch clone engine ?
75' CB400F/'bunch o' parts' & 81' CB125S modded to a 'CB200S'
I love the small ones too !

Great story...  Manual clutch 4 speed.
