Thanks for the Reply's guys, I know there are a lot of other people doing similar rebuilds so its encouraging to get feedback.
Love the color of my tank too, haven't decided on paint yet thats wayyy down the road. Ill have to hit up Bill Benton when i get my post counts up, maybe he can help track down some oil jets for me. From the research i've done so far its my suspicion that those oil jets became blocked and thats what caused the camshaft to loose oil and fail.
Good news is that the machinist said the cylinders looked good and only one piston had some rusted oil rings, between that and 4 new exhaust valve guides and I should be good to go on the heads. (Not sure what else I really need to replace on those guys)
In the mean time I removed the oil pump and discovered another surprise (see pics), not sure what it is or if anyone can help identify the culprit, but to me it looks like the shavings from the cam chain tensioner. Or possibly gasket material? (see posted pics)
As far as ordering parts, what are your guys favorite places to get parts online (or in the So Cal area).
