I'm getting spark on all 4. Plugs were wet (gas). Timing plate looks like it hasn't moved - all screws still tight. As far as tuning, I guessed as a starting point. 4th clip needle. 120 main jet. Thing is, it started almost immediately on the first push of the button. I rode it twice - maybe 5 miles total before my issues. Felt and sounded like it really wants to run. No low speed blubbering, pulled good, although I was only going through 1st & 2nd. I'm thinking I must have some junk in the carbs.
Since I picked they up used (supposedly only about 200 miles on them, I decided to pull them back off and really go through them with compressed air and carb cleaner. I think one or more of those tiny starter circuit jets may have been plugged. So I am now confident all the passages are sqeaky clean. I set the floats to where they were just level with the carb bodies (they're square, and the only thing I was able to find regarding setting them said to set them level. Would like to find another drain screw so I can modify it for a clear tube so I can see the actual level.
I have not checked compression. I have new rings, fresh bores, new valve springs, guides, seals etc. so hopefully, it's just something with the carbs
Got everything back on. Gonna give it another shot at halftime.
