if i had to wait since the mid 80's to fit a tire to my motorcycle, i think i'd have switched brands by now  8)

we have a sayingaround here: in the tire business you have to rip off a lot of schmucks to have a goodyear.

Search the boards for good tires that fit your bike.
locate and purchase them, either locally or online.
Look up a local cycle salvage with a tire mounting set up or spoon em on.

In these parts, if you buy tires online, you have to mount and balance them yourself.  Nobody will mount tires that you don't buy at the shop.  Can't say I blame 'em.

Goodyear makes a few different motorcycle drag race tires.  I know a couple of local racers hoping the Goodyear strike doesn't run on too long - they want fresh rubber for their drag bikes.

Goodyear also makes some special vintage/antique motorcycle tires.

Agree on getting tires fitted locally.  It's scary to see how badly some people fit their tires.

I've seen beads not seated, rear tires on front wheels, tires mounted backwards (yes, there are direction arrows on tires), rear tires mounted without the rim locks (on fast bikes), wheels out of balance, badly mismatched tires (mixing bias ply & radial)...  scary stuff.

Hi Uncle Ernie
You don't mount and balance your own tires? I do this because I am cheap. But I was at a local shop waiting to pick up a friend who was having his bike worked on. The mechanic was mounting a tire. I am glad that it was not my tire or rim.

As of 12/4/06 Goodyear is still on strike.
We had to change all of our 2007 model year orders because we had ordered the tractors with Goodyear rubber, and because of the strike had to switch to Michelin.

Goodyear and Dunlop are one and the same. The strike is a big concern here Ive always struggled with how Union/Labor problems get this out of hand.

The Honda shop near me will, they just charge a balancing and true-ing fee
