Carburettor to air filter issues
« on: November 28, 2016, 12:39:14 PM »
Hi, first message on your forum, advise needed please. The plastic tubes from
The air box to carbs on my bike seem too small and too stiff to go over the carbs,
Are there different sizes? Should there be a sleeve to link them? Or should I perceiver
Trying to get them on?
Sorry if it's a cliche question!

believe it or not, those are rubber, not plastic.  When they age, they get hard and shrink.  Use of a heat gun or hair dryer may allow you to get those to work...or brand new soft, supple flexible ones are available from Honda.
If it works good, it looks good...

Use some kind of lubricant and yes, the use of heat helps.  Getting this airbox back on is the hardest aspect of carburetor repairs IMHO.

guys, just get the new boots and install only the top half first.  I can do it in under a minute and you can too.

I wish I could do it in one minute. On my CB500,  the plastic airbox is a tight fit just to get it ready for fiddling with the rubber connections to the carbs.

A YouTube video of your techniques would be fabulous.
