Think HD did make a scooter..sometime back in the late 60's (?).  Before AMF took them over.  Was thinking that Frank 754 may be able to elaborate further on that..

The Topper.  I was originally thinking of the Aermacchi bikes, but those were a bit above scooter class.

Hi Glenn..

That's it!.  Any idea of the production dates?  As I remember..HD was struggling there..after the Japanese bikes came on the American market.  Seemed to be trying anything (the Hummers..Aermacchi's..even the Sportster's..after the K's) to retain market share. Those weren't especially good years for HD..as I remember.  their engineering and reliability were decidedly less than the Japanese..or British for that matter.

Nowadays..I wonder how many of the HD fans know how far HD had to come..to compete on the motorcycle market?  I know that the substandard quality of the day (from mid 1950's to early 80's) was the major reason I went to British..and eventually Japanese bikes.  I'm still preferential to the Japanese bikes BTW.  In part because I've developed Japanese rider friends..and I'm married to one LOL!

Happy Holidays everyone!

Yes at one time Harley did make scooters. I saw one at a guy's shop that was a rolling basket, he had hopes to restore it some day. Don't know if that ever happened though.
