Was excited to lace my wheels and seem to have hit a snag. The spokes and nipples are from bucannon's for these hoops and my bike. The inners seem long and outers border on too short. One I can't even get started. Not sure if I missed something from a lack of sleep or what. Inners used the short heads and longer heads on the outers.

I would un-lace them all on that front and use the 'inners' in place of the 'outers' & vice versa.Do the inners have very different L-shaped bent heads on them than the outers? show some pics of the two different ones.

Thanks for that. Here's the spoke heads. I used shorter for inners

That sure looks like you used the correct ones for inners..
I would still un-lace and re-lace it.. imo.

hard to see where it's having the problem.Do the length measurements on the outers match what the spec calls for ? I hope Buchanans didn't make a mistake.

Replied to your PM. Picture looks as though you are 1 hole off on the new rim. Notice the spoke nearly crossing the inside spoke at the edge of the hub? Too tight an angle usually means you started in the wrong hole at the rim.

I could be wrong because I'm only basing that off the pictures.

I had a similar situation and I was one hole off on one side of the hub when I laced my rear wheel.

That is correct sir, not sure what grade he used. I'll ask him when i speak to him soon.

I know McIntosh uses 6061 T6 for a lot of their swingarms. Pretty standard material. I think that swingarm is a lot more stout than the frame you are attaching it to.

Hondaman's book mentions how stout and overbuilt the stock swingarms are, yet I see folks replacing them.
Any thoughts on that?

Haha that's the truth! Especially with stiffening up the forks too. After talking to Karsten just decided to leave the frame alone for now.

Honestly the reason I wanted to swap the swingarm mainly because everything else is being done on the bike but strengthening the frame and I couldn't bring myself to paint the frame like I am with that stock swingarm. This after I polish will really be perfect on the bike. Along with the piggyback racetech shocks. This bike will be my shop bike and see some track time for fun.

Well, it certainly looks sweet. I'd lightly take the sharp edges off, and give it a polish. Can't wait to see this bike done.

Interesting design. Looks like "C" channel for the outside then the inner shock mount and the whole inside surface is another piece bent to match then all welded up. I would have never thought of building an arm that way. Seems like a lot of extra welding but then again, its Framecrafters, so not much room to question an authority like that.

with some of the earlier pics, he shared with me, it looked to be rectangle tubing. Ive been very impressed by his work and in dealing with them. Think I found a shop to help me with my h2 kawi when i get that going this fall.

It was square tubing they pie cut to create the bends- clever. The purpose TIG welding the top seam is to disperse the heat affected material along the length of the arm, not keep it isolated at the seam. Looks very well made and thought out.

Calj737 thanks again for your help on the wheels. Amazing how quick it goes when you do not right!

Just have to do the seat bolt holes and then the frame is ready to paint. Hoping to knock it out this weekend

I'm using that speedo as well, very nice. That's the biggest magnetic tray I've ever seen. Didn't know they came that large.
